The Foundation honors people who have and continue to directly influence and further the presence of Hispanic-Americans in the entertainment industry.
Raúl Juliá Award for Excellence
Named after the late actor and activist, it is presented to the organization or individual whose work most advances the presence of Latinos in television and/or film.
Past recipients include Rita Moreno, Lynda Carter, Benito Martinez, Demian Bichir, Roberto Orci, Robert Rodriguez, Sandra Bullock, Elizabeth Vargas, Gregory Nava, Kenny Ortega, John Singleton, Richard Parsons, and Cristina Saralegui.
Horizon Award
Established to recognize rising stars that are redefining and potentially altering the direction of the industry at the current point in their young careers. The Foundation is widely recognized for having its finger on the pulse of emerging talent.
Past recipients include Lin-Manuel Miranda, Melissa Barrera, Gina Rodriguez, Eva Longoria, Ana Villafañe, Juan Pablo Raba, Michael Peña, Gisele Itie, Wilmer Valderrama, and Cristela.
Spotlight Award
Spotlights artists who are having a successful and exceptional moment in the media arts, transforming and elevating opportunities for Latinos. Past recipients include Justina Machado, who received it for her work on One Day at a Time.
Legacy Award
Honors artists whose lifetime work in art, music and/or film has depicted a rich landscape of Latino culture that has been embraced by a universal audience – furthering the presence of Latino representation.
